AirStash、到着。

Arrived.

AirStash

Tadaaaahh! I finally got AirStash!  I'm getting tired of my iPhone3GS's dingy camera and I wanna use better quality photos taken with my SLR to post on Instagram. So, here is a way. I got it last night and I had difficulty solving a stupid error caused by an AirStash app firmware update today.  So, I haven't been able to test it out that much.  But I think I can get used to this.  Now, I just hope my will is strong enough to carry around my heavy and bulky Nikon D80 :D Loving my D80, but it is quite heavy...

This is pretty interesting. I've never heard of AirStash, until now.
I've been thinking about getting an iPad, and this my be useful as it has
the capability of extra storage?

But I thought that the iPad / iPhone does not have a USB slot?
So the USB on the AirStash is just decoration, since it is wireless ... right?

This is great if you are not too excited with the iPhone/iPad camera quality.
I had a hard time understanding how it works.
So, here you go.

You don't need a WiFi SD card. Just a normal SD card works fine.
Take photos with your camera.
Take the SD card out and insert it into AirStash stick.
Install AirStash+ app (free) on your iPhone/iPad.
Turn AirStash stick on.
iPhone: General→Setting→WiFi→Connect to AirStash Wifi network.
(This stick emits a special WiFi signal just to transfer files,
not to browse webpages)
Start AirStash+ app on your iPhone/iPad.
You will see the photos (file names only) on that SD card.
You can select the photos you want to transfer by clicking each file name.
Press + to transfer the selected photos to iPhone/iPad photostream.
Then, you can do the rest just like what you do with other photos taken with iPhone/iPad.

I guess the size of extra storage is the size of the SD card.
AirStash can deal with both images and videos.
I bought it intending to substitute my poor iPhone3GS camera with Nikon D80.
And I'm liking it.

If you ever get one, don't install firmware update with a SD card with photos on.
The update corrupted my image files and it took me a while to figure out
how to fix the problem. Use a SD card with no images when you do any update.
After the update, reformat the SD card, which should fix the corruption.
