camp cookies。

Not bad at all if the recipe is properly followed...

made by kids at the camp

Camp kids made these gorgeous cookies. Yes, they are chocolate chip cookies although most of the chocolate bits are invisible on this photo (For some reason, they all ended up on the back side of the cookies). I've been doing this camp for the last 10 years and I've never remember the camp cookies as gooey and chewy as these ones are. They were always somewhat fluffy and cakey. Well, guess what? This year, somebody actually followed the recipe! I found out that they had been adding extra flour (so that the dough is easier to handle for kids to make small balls) and not measuring ingredients accurately in the past! It took us 10 years to figure out following recipes is actually a good thing. But some people prefer cakey cookies to these chowy ones and we might go back to the not-measured-correctly-cakey cookies. I have to get hold of the recipe before the recipe is officially altered.

My planters are finally looking good...

That's funny, not bad if the recipe is properly followed. ww

I used to have that same problem too, with choco sinking to the bottom.
I have found out that if you add 1 tsp of baking soda, it helps the cookies
keep their round ball shape, and prevent the choco from sinking.

Also, if you want gooey & mosit cookies, I would sometimes replace the sugar
with honey ... because honey and sugar have the same molecular structure,
and the cookies come out tasty, too!

I always thought these cookies are so-so because of the recipe we were using.
Now I know that was not the recipe! Sorry, Mr. Recipe...
Doesn't adding baking soda make the dough extra fluffy and bitter?
I usually coat chocolate chips (or nuts) with flour before mixing in.
I guess it is too much to ask from kids to make cookies more visually presentable...
I've never tried honey to replace sugar. That sounds wonderful!
I think it will be too expensive for camp cookies,
but I will definitely try that (・∀・) ありがとー♪
